Using contact filters within sequences

Learn how to filter your contacts so you can easily narrow down a specific list of statuses and errors.


We've added contact filters so you can now narrow down specific lists of contacts within a sequence. There are no limits to how many filter combinations you can create so you can have access to more granular data. 

You can click on the Filter icon to open up the menu of contact filters.

Below are the list of filters and their different options:

Ongoing:

  • Is Ongoing - contacts who still need to be sent messages
  • Is Not Ongoing - contacts who are no longer being messaged because an action was taken (i.e. replied, booked a meeting, or there’s an error for them)

Messaged:

  • Has Messaged - contacts who have been messaged
  • Has Not Messaged - contacts who have not been messaged yet

Last Messaged:

  • Last Messaged After… (select a date) - contacts who have been messaged after a specific date
  • Last Messaged Before… (select a date) - contacts who have been messaged before a specific date

Created:

  • Created After... (select a date) - contacts who were added to the sequence after a specific date
  • Created Before... (select a date) - contacts who were added to the sequence before a specific date

Paused: 

  • Is Paused - contacts who are paused in the sequence
  • Is Not Paused - contacts who aren't paused in the sequence

Personalized:

  • Is Personalized - contacts who were sent personalized emails 
  • Is Not Personalized - contacts who were not sent personalized emails

Step:

  • Step Equals... (enter a step number) - contacts who are at that current step in the sequence (0 cannot be entered in as a step number)

Opened:

  • Has Opened - contacts who have opened messages (to see how many contacts have opened a specific email step, you can visit the steps panel within a sequence)
  • Has Not Opened - contacts who haven’t opened any messages they were sent in the sequence
  • Opened More Than... (enter number) - contacts who opened all of the emails they received more than a specific amount of times 
  • Opened Less Than… (enter number) - contacts who opened all of the emails they received less than a specific amount of times 

Clicked:

  • Has Clicked - contacts who have clicked links within your emails (to see how many contacts have clicked a specific email step, you can visit the steps panel within a sequence)
  • Has Not Clicked - contacts who haven’t clicked the links within your emails
  • Clicked More Than... (enter number) - contacts who have clicked the links within your emails more than a specific amount of times
  • Clicked Less Than… (enter number) - contacts who have clicked the links within your emails less than a specific amount of times

Replied:

  • Has Replied - contacts who have replied 
  • Has Not Replied - contacts who haven’t replied 
  • Replied After… (select a date) - contacts who have replied after a specific date
  • Replied Before… (select a date) - contacts who have replied before a specific date

Sentiment: 

  • Has Sentiment - contacts who have a sentiment assigned to them
  • Has No Sentiment - contacts who don't have a sentiment assigned to them
  • Sentiment Equals... (select a sentiment to pull up a list of contacts who were assigned that sentiment)
    • Interested - contacts who are interested 
    • Not Interested - contacts who are not interested
    • Bad Fit - contacts who have responded not being a good fit
    • Wrong Contact - contacts who are not the correct people to reach out to
    • Bad Timing - contacts who might be interested in the future since now is not the right time for them

Booked: 

  • Has Booked - contacts who have booked meetings 
  • Has Not Booked - contacts who haven’t booked meetings 

Unsubscribed:

  • Has Unsubscribed - contacts who have unsubscribed 
  • Has Not Unsubscribed - contacts who haven’t unsubscribed 

Bounced:

  • Has Bounced - contacts who have bounced emails 
  • Has Not Bounced - contacts who do not have bounced emails

Phone Number:

  • Has No Number - contacts without a phone number in their profile
  • Has Phone Number - contacts with a phone number in their profile

Error:

  • Has Error - contacts with any kind of error
  • Has No Error - contacts with no errors
  • Error Equals to… (select an error to pull up the list of contacts with that error)
    • Blacklisted - contacts who are blacklisted based on their email address or domain
    • Bounced - contacts who have bounced in the sequence 
    • Exists in CRM - contacts who already exist in your connected CRM
    • Exists in Sequence  
      • All Exists in Sequence - contacts who already exist in your other sequences
      • Exists in Sequence After… (select a date) - contacts who existed in your other sequences after a specific date
      • Exists in Sequence Before… (select a date) - contacts who existed in your other sequences before a specific date
    • Exists in Team 
      • All Exists in Team - contacts who already exist in your teammate's sequences
      • Exists in Team After… (select a date) - contacts who existed in your teammate's sequences after a specific date
      • Exists in Team Before… (select a date) - contacts who existed in your teammate's sequences before a specific date
    • Integration Error - contacts who have an integration error 
    • Invalid Email - contacts who have invalid emails
    • Missing Info - contacts who have missing custom fields that are required in email steps 
    • Replied for Domain - contacts who have been replied to by you or your team member (this error will only appear when the Account Replies feature is enabled in your personal safety settings)
    • Replied Outside Sequence - contacts who have replied to the sequence owner outside of the sequence 
    • Replied to Sequence - contacts who have replied in another sequence
    • Replied to Teammate - contacts who have replied to your teammate's sequence
    • Team Blacklisted - contacts who are on the team’s blacklist
    • Teammate Account - only owners of an account can message a contact of that account (this error will only appear when the Account Ownership feature is enabled in the team safety settings)  
    • Unsubscribed - contacts who have unsubscribed from receiving further emails
Note: There's not currently a way to save filtered contact lists within sequences. As a workaround, you can export the filtered lists as CSV files to save it.
