Sending a test email
Learn how to send yourself a test email to preview your message.
You can send a test email to yourself if you'd like to preview how the email will appear to your contacts. The test email will show you what the particular step will look like in your outbound email, so you won't see the full thread from your previous steps in Test mode.
To send yourself a test email, visit the Preview tab of a sequence and click on the Send Test Email button. You will then be prompted to enter in the email address you'd like to send the test email to.
You can also preview how an email looks like for a specific contact by selecting them in the drop-down menu on the left side and clicking on the paper airplane icon.
If you do not select a contact to send a test email to, Interseller will instead populate your information by default.
Some custom fields within a test email may not populate because your information is not stored anywhere in the sequence. Instead, it will show the custom field (i.e. it will show "{{job_title}}" instead of populating your job title). If these custom fields are filled out for the contact, it will populate their information for those fields when the emails are sent out.
We do not recommend adding yourself or another email address you own to a sequence for testing messages. This will cause the stats not to work as expected.
Important things to note:
- Unsubscribe links do not get added in a test email.
- Test emails will always be sent as individual emails regardless if they're steps in a sequence. Previous steps do not get added "under the fold" or referenced in test emails. In the actual email, if the same thread is selected, follow-up emails will appear in the same thread.
- The "RE:" flag in the subject line will not get added. This will depend on the particular email service to add it such as Gmail or Outlook
