Using Interseller with Lever (unsupported)

Important Note: We have discontinued technical support for all Interseller integrations. Moving forward, users are welcome to continue using these integrations at their own discretion but our Technical Support team will no longer provide assistance or guarantee compatibility with future updates.

For general troubleshooting suggestions, please refer to the guide below or visit our Help Center.

Our integration with Lever can automatically sync contacts and assign them to job postings in Lever whenever they're added to a sequence on Interseller.

Connecting to Lever (API Key)

Account Owners or users with Lever Super Admin access must connect their Lever account to Interseller first in order for all other users to connect their accounts.

Other users will not be able to set up their Lever integration until the Super Admin adds the API key to Interseller.

Note: The email addresses you use in Interseller must match the email address you use to login through Lever. If they do not match, we will not be able connect to your Lever account.

Follow these steps to connect to Lever:

  1. First, head over to your Lever Settings.
  2. Select "Integrations and API" from the menu on the left-hand side.
  3. Click through to the "API Credentials" tab.
  4. Click the "Generate New Key" button.
  5. Add "Interseller" as the Key name.
  6. Scroll down to the "Permissions" section and select the following:
    • read opportunity
    • read contact
    • read candidate
    • read posting
    • read user
    • read stage
    • list users
    • list stages
    • list postings
    • list opportunities
    • list sources
    • update opportunity stage
    • update contact
    • update candidate stage
    • create opportunity
    • add candidate source
  7. Scroll back up and click the "Copy key" button.
  8. Head back into your Interseller Integration settings to select Lever and paste the API key in the pop-up window.

Reconnecting to Lever

If this is your first time connecting Lever to Interseller, please follow the steps above to connect via API which is required for an initial connection to Lever.

If you are having trouble reconnecting your Lever account, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Integrations page and select Lever from the list.
  2. Enter your Lever login credentials and grant Interseller access to your Lever account. This will allow Interseller to create and sync contacts over to Lever.

Adjusting the sync settings

After Lever is connected, you can choose how contacts from all sequences sync over from Interseller to Lever by selecting one of the following sync options:

  1. Off - Contacts will not sync over to Lever
  2. Sync contacts when added to a sequence - Contacts will sync over to Lever when they are added to a sequence
  3. Sync contacts only when they reply back - Contacts will only sync over to Lever when they reply to a sequence

Cloning integration settings to teammates

Owners and Managers have the option to clone their integration settings to teammates currently connected to Lever, whether or not they are part of a Group.

Using this option will clone all of the settings available with the Lever integration as there is not an option to select specific settings to copy over.

Note: This does not apply to teammates that are connected to a different integration or do not have an integration set up within their account.

Disable syncing sequences to Lever

You can also disable syncing individual sequences over to Lever by toggling off the "Sync to Lever" feature in the "Syncing" tab within the sequence's settings.

If you don't want contacts to sync over to Lever, you will need to make sure this setting is enabled first before adding contacts into the sequence.

Resync contacts to Lever

If contacts have been added before Lever was connected, contacts can be backfilled later through the  "Resync to Lever " feature. You can resync contacts to Lever  individually or in bulk.

Note: The "Resync to Lever" feature does not update contacts who have already synced over to Lever. This feature will only sync contacts who have not yet synced over to Lever.

Enable/disable deduplication for Lever

You can toggle on the "Deduplication" setting for Lever to be warned if a contact already exists in Lever. This will mark the contact with the error "Exists in Lever" if we find the same email address already exists in Lever prior to being added into Interseller.

If deduplication is turned off, then we will not warn you if the contact already exists in Lever.

Below are two common scenarios of when a new contact record will be created and when it won't be created when the contact has synced over to Lever:

  • If the same email address exists in both Lever and Interseller, a duplicate contact record will not be created in Lever.
  • If there are two different email addresses for the same contact (one in Lever and one in Interseller), a second contact record will be created with the second email address when they sync over from Interseller to Lever.

Changing the default job posting at the account level

You can set the default job posting that all contacts across all sequences are synced to at the account level by adjusting the "Posting" sync setting.

We recommend leaving this blank if you are syncing contacts to specific job postings for each sequence.

Changing the job posting for each sequence

You can override the default job order by adjusting this setting for each individual sequence.

To adjust the project setting, open up the sequence's settings, click on the "Syncing" tab, and select the specific job posting for contacts to sync over to within Lever.

Be sure to select the correct job posting first as contacts cannot be re-synced if they were added first and then a job posting is selected for the sequence at a later time.

Note: To sync email activity from Interseller to Lever, you can check out Lever's documentation here.
